20 years as a head of a large secondary school in Hertfordshire. Have worked in three very different schools.
I was trained 6 years ago and thinking skills are well embedded in all our processes and schemes of work.
I have trained many staff in primary, in secondary schools, in a further education College and other organisations. I love the training and have learnt a great deal from each organisation I visit.
I train all the students and all new staff – Year 7 students are taught to use HATS in the second term of their first year; Years 10 and the Sixth Form students receive refresher lessons. Thinking tools help develop self esteem, so important for real learning. Staff are trained in the use of Hats and CoRT 1 in their first term with us.
At Watford Grammar School for Girls Thinking Skills (HATS and CoRT 1) are in the School Development plan and the School Self Evaluation document (SEF). Teaching and using thinking tools are a compulsory element for each member of staff.
The training I provide is fun and I know is enjoyed by those who take part.
